THE CENTER OF HOPE FOR WOMEN NEWBURYPORT, MASSACHUSETTS 257 Low Street, Newburyport, MA (978) 462-1119 |
---|
The Center of Hope For Women was founded in Newburyport, Massachusetts. Since its inception in 1996, we have had a strong presence in the community and beyond. We have been instrumental in improving the lives of many women and have changed the attitudes of some institutions in a constructive manner regarding the treatment of women.
We went to the Boston Red Sox and spoke to them about how women are treated and were successful in getting an interview rarely given. They support us.
The Center is involved in primarily four areas:
Advocacy Education Information Fund Raising
The Center prides itself in its pro bono assistance from various attorneys who assist women requiring services, either in the court setting or in a legal counseling fashion.
The women do not have to pay for representation in a court of law, nor for assistance from any of our attorneys. In many instances, women are without funds when they flee abusive relationships and must struggle to survive, sometimes just having enough money to eat, and no funds left over for legal matters.
One of the pivotal points of the Center is the necessity for women to regain their self-esteem after the abuse and it is therefore essential that we create a partnership with other females who have been involved in abuse issues, in helping them to rebuild their self-esteem.
Our aim is to create a new woman, away from the abuse.
Many women who have interacted with our organization are enjoying their newly found self-esteem, and have left abuse behind them
The Journal of Hope is published by the Center of Hope For Women. Its Founder, Editor and Publisher is Rosemarie Greene.
The Journal has yearly advertisers whose show of support is remarkable. Articles ranging from stories of abuse, in-depth information for women, and educational information all appear here.
Writing contributors from the public, including physicians, congressmen, senators and other interested parties.
This provided important reading material for the public.
With the assistance of Holly Hammershoy, The Center of Hope For Women developed the first 12-step program for those suffering domestic abuse.
