Center of Hope Coalition

What are the goals of this initiative?

To make sure that Domestic Prevention Laws are enforced.

To prevent domestic violence from being a "silent crime" with little or no recourse for the victim.

From The Director Of The Center Of Hope For Women

" Domestic Violence is a major health problem. It affects the unborn infant all the way to the great grandmother and beyond; it affects all areas of our society - our citizens, leaders and governance, etc. Make no mistake, domestic violence is on the rise- that is, those few reported occurrences of it. There is silence in many communities and people suffer daily. In this very community (during a time when it was unpopular to discuss the topic), two very brave women began to make a difference - Carrol Abbot and Ann Smith. They sat night after night, day after day - without pay (but with a big heart)- and began to address the issue of domestic violence. Today, we at The Center of Hope for Women have been addressing this most important issue, for the last six years. For example, I've taken into my own home a woman and her children fleeing domestic abuse, when they couldn't find help anywhere else.

Now we are asking the community to come together with us in forming this coalition".
